Eibeschütz, Jonathan
(c. 1690-1764)
   Bohemian talmudist and kabbalist. He was head of a yeshivah in Prague and became the rabbi in Metz in 1741. From 1750 he officiated in turn at Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck. He was accused of being a follower of Shabbetai Tzevi but denied the charge. He was one of the greatest talmudic scholars of his time.
